Student Teacher Training Program

If you enjoy sharing your ideas, knowledge, and love of beauty, then an instructor position may be right for you! Imparting your expertise and motivating others for their own success can be an extremely gratifying path. We’ll give you the tools and know-how you need to become an instructor of Cosmetology & Hairstyling in the State of New Jersey.
This program is open to graduates of the Cosmetology & Hairstyling program or licensed Cosmetology professionals.
Requirements to Obtain a NJ State Instructor’s License to Become a Cosmetology Instructor
In order to be eligible to obtain your instructor’s license and become a cosmetology instructor in the state of New Jersey, you will be required to provide proof of the following:
- At least 18 years of age
- High school diploma, or its equivalent
- A valid NJ Cosmetology/Hairstyling license
- Notarized statement of six months of work experience in all phases of Cosmetology
- Completed 500 hours of an ‘Instructor Training’ course (our Student Teaching course fulfills this requirement)
- 30 clock hours in a ‘Methods of Teaching’ course, conducted by a college approved by the State Board of Higher Education
- Physician’s statement that the graduate is free from any evidence of communicable disease
- Successfully pass an examination conducted by the State Board
