CARES Act Relief for Students of Christine Valmy International School for Esthetics, Skin Care & Makeup
Christine Valmy International School for Esthetics, Skin Care & Makeup (“the School”) has signed and returned a Certification & Agreement statement that assures the School is granting the funds received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide emergency financial aid grants to its students who were attending classes as of March 16, 2020, the date of suspension of onsite classes, and students committed to attend classes as of March 16, 2020 and who received temporary online classes. Also eligible are students who took Leave of Absence due to COVID-19. Students enrolled in our Esthetics courses were deemed eligible for this emergency relief.
The total amount the School has received from the Department pursuant to the signed Certification & Agreement for emergency financial aid grants for students: $165,598.00.
The total amount disbursed to students as of June 2, 2021: $165,598.00
The total number of students at the School eligible for Section 484 Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, who are thus eligible for this emergency financial aid grant to students under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act: 451.
The method used by the School to determine which students received emergency financial aid grants under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act: Phase One: The School took the total amount of award for students and immediately disbursed 90% of the total amount to all eligible* students enrolled in its Title IV programs attending or committed to attend temporary online classes as of March 16, 2020, to provide emergency relief for essential items of daily living (child care, food and shelter, utilities, etc.). The amount allotted per student was an equitable $375. The School distributed a form for each eligible student to complete and return to the Financial Aid Office in order to receive his/her grant allotment via company check. Phase Two: The balance 10% of funds are being retained by the School in anticipation of the exceptional needs specific families have faced or will face in the coming months with their household finances or possible health impact on specific student families due to COVID-19
Instructions or guidance for students in attendance or committed to attend the School as of March 16, 2020 regarding this emergency award grant through the CARES Act: In order to receive your portion of the grant funding (Phase One), please return your signed certification form sent to each of eligible student by email. Any questions related to this should be directed to Student Services ([email protected]) as soon as possible. Read the form in its entirety and save a copy for your records. The financial aid department will assess the needs of those students who might require additional aid (Phase Two), based on their submitted FAFSAs to the School, and allot additional monies as warranted.
*eligible students are defined as students & recent graduates that were US citizens or permanent legal US residents who were eligible to submit a FAFSA & were enrolled in one of our Title IV programs (Esthetics), receiving or committed to receive temporary online education as of 3/16/2020. Also eligible are students who were forced to take Leave of Absence due to COVID-19. These prerequisites were required in order to qualify for the CARES Act emergency grant funds.
