Coronavirus (aka COVID-19) FAQs
The spread of COVID-19 is presenting a rapidly evolving situation, and we understand there are a lot of concerns and questions. We are working tirelessly to establish clear guidance on what you can expect regarding your education at Christine Valmy. Here’s what we know now.
Is the school open?
In the interest of keeping our students, staff, and clients safe, and in light of recommendations from the CDC and the city and state governments, we have implemented a temporary suspension of on-site courses. HOWEVER, we are continuing our education online based on an emergency grant by the New York State Education Department.
Due to the New York State mandated closure of non-essential businesses during the Coronavirus pandemic, our staff is currently working remotely during regular business hours. Should you need to contact us, you can email [email protected] or call 212-779-7800 to leave a voicemail. Please be sure to specify what the message is regarding and provide your contact details, and we’ll have someone respond as soon as possible.
Why is this happening; was someone confirmed to have COVID-19 at the school?
NO. At this time, we have learned of no confirmed cases of the virus at our school or among any of the students, staff or clients. We have paused in-school classes as a precaution to keep our students, staff, and clients safe, and to give you the opportunity to remain home per the guidance of government officials.
How long is the school going to be closed?
The physical school location will likely be closed for the next few weeks, and we’ll get you back in as soon as possible based on the status of COVID-19. We will heed the recommendations from the experts, including the CDC and federal, state, and local officials.
What will happen to my course if the school is closed?
We have great news! We’ve been approved by our licensing body, BPSS, to launch our online education program! This means that we’ll be able to continue delivering you the top-quality education you deserve, even during this unprecedented time that everyone is asked to remain home. We’ll be reaching out to each class with specific instructions on accessing their course. These remote learning hours WILL count toward your total required course hours to be eligible for NY State licensure.
How will I make payments?
We are in the process of setting up digital payment to make this easier. In the meantime, you can fill out our credit card authorization form and send it to [email protected]. Click here to download the form.
I am a facial client who purchased a Groupon. What if it expires before the school reopens?
We will honor your Groupon, even if it expires while the school is closed. We will let everyone know as soon as we’re ready to book appointments again, and we thank you for your patience!
Which courses would be moved to online education?
The courses we are ready to launch online at this time include Theory, Practical Theory, Makeup, Clinic and Nails. .
How would my Theory, Practical, Makeup or Nails course be taught online?
Rest assured, this program includes the same expert certified instructors and renowned curriculum as our in-school program. We give you everything you need to engage with the lessons, practice at home, and study your craft. You’ll be able to participate in the live-streamed courses, ask questions in real time, and receive individual attention from your teacher, just as you would in person – but in the safety and comfort of your own home.
Our teachers deliver live-streaming classes remotely via video conference. We’ve built into the program ample opportunity for teachers to provide individual attention to each student, and to ensure that course material is understood. There is a teacher on-call at all times during school hours for questions and extra help.
How will Clinic be handled?
We’ve put a lot of thought into creating the best possible training for you to fine-tune the well-rounded skills expected of an esthetician in a professional environment. This rigorous program is designed to provide you with the ultimate competitive edge in the job market after you graduate. We have designed a program combining lectures, homework, and technique practice. We will be adding more new lectures every week, so keep an eye on your email.
How will we make up the hours we’re losing?
We will let each class know how they can make up the hours they missed during this transition. You’ll also have access to the same student services team as always at [email protected], if you have any questions about making up your hours.
I’m enrolled but I haven’t yet started. What should I expect?
We will be in contact with you directly to discuss next steps!
How can I speak with someone if I still feel unclear?
Please email [email protected] with any questions, and if you wish to speak with someone directly, provide your contact information.
Christine Valmy is approved for online education! Check your email for next steps. Thanks for your patience as we work to ensure you can continue learning!
